T Stands For ArTful Frienship T

Today I'm celebrating T on Tuesday by showing and sharing some friendship.  First is the friendship I received in the mail.  Marianne at Ruff Haven sent this awesome cigar box for me to alter after she saw my comment about the cost of empty cigar boxes in my city.  Of course, she also sent many other goodies in the box, including these packets of tea.  Looks like I have tons of options for T both today and in the near future, too.  Thanks beyond belief, Marianne.

Next up is the friendship I gained while at Autumn and Art on Saturday.

As some of you may have noticed, I took this photo on Saturday.  This is Pam Spika, a mixed media artist, whose work I fell in love with.  If only I could make my mixed media look this good!

I first stopped by as my friend Sally and I were checking out all the booths.  Sally went ahead, because this type of art doesn't seem to interest her.  I stayed behind to talk to Spika, but only in a cursory way.  Little did I realize at the time, that she was the Featured Artist of the show.  Living in Parker, CO, a suburb of Denver, Spika specializes in geometric works that begin with modeling paste (which she applies to her substrate, usually a canvas), after which she applies acrylics, crayons, metal leafing, and pencils to create beauties like the ones above.

Only after I caught up with Sally did I take the time to look at the schedule we had been given and noticed she was the featured artist of the show.  That's when I knew I had to go back and talk to her.

I brazenly asked for her autograph and took a photo of her signing the schedule.

And even though I purchased nothing, she was so kind to me, being gracious, sincere, and genuine.  I felt an instant comradery with her, this beautiful artist who took the time to share a bit about herself.

Share your thoughts today and link to T Stands for Tuesday.  It's all about friendship, kindness, and people who enter, or walk back into, your life at the most unexpected moments.  Thank you Marianne and thank you Pam.  It's a perfecT day all around.

Looks like you had a great time at the art show! How great to meet the featured artist and make a personal connection with her. From what I can see in your photos, it looks like she makes lovely, vibrant pieces with great energy/flow.

You have lots of yummy tea to sample now, too. Yum!

I'm linking up with something a bit different today. It's a scrapbook page that I made for a Russian challenge blog. It's already Tuesday in Russia, so I went ahead and linked up, even though it's still Monday here. :)

Happy Tuesday (almost) dear friend!!

First, what a sweet and thoughtful gift from Marianne. She is a wonderful friend to have indeed. Enjoy your teas and have fun with your new box.

Second, how pretty the art is by this special artist. I love these pieces she has made. That was so nice of you to go back and make her day too I bet as she did to you!
I've only been to one art show and the kids and I met 2 really nice ladies who really talked and enjoyed my kids and what they had to say. We didn't buy anything either but they were still so sweet to us.

You are a dear sweet and supportive friend too, have only known you a short time but you have been so good to me. Thanks so much for that!! I loved what you wrote in your comments today, made me laugh and tear up a bit. I will try to have patience with the kids and get them in there with me or let them figure it out on their own. I am like your grandma, want to get it done and not get distracted. Funny too we eat the blue box mac/cheese at least once a week, my kids won't go near the homemade stuff, I eat both kinds.
You have come a long way to start off early on your own, good for you!!! Thank you for sharing that story with me. Will keep you posted on the cooking adventures to be had.
Hope your Tuesday is warm and sunny just like you and the wonderful readers you have here!HUGS!

OMG! What beautiful art this lady makes. Your NOT the only one that would like to have their mixed media turnout like that! I would be thrilled with if I could accomplish 50% of that style.
Happy T-day and have a great week.

Hi Elizabeth and Bleubeard,

I nearly forgot it was Tuesday! So you have lots of tea now.

You never know, one day you could be as good as Spica and be featured artist!

(Bleubeard, there is a cat on my blog).

So happy that the cigar box has a happy home. Hope you enjoy the tea. If not at least the packets will add color to your collages.
I haven't written my post for today yet. Blogger is being a twit and not allowing me to get to the page where we write posts. I swear I am going to move to Wordpress if this keeps up.

Nice cigar box! I talked a cigar vender into selling me a bunch at 2 bucks a piece...at one of the motorcycle fests we went to this past spring. Beautiful art by Pam. How sweet you went back and for her to sign your program. Looks like you made her day asking for her autograph. Bet no one else did! :)

wow, the featured artist's work is really gorgeous...thanks so much for sharing your photos from the show with us! and I love your altered book pages. they turned out great...and since I don't use colored ink pads you are way ahead of me. Stencils have so many possibilities and you've shown an excellent example!

Nice photos E!

We had to fly to CA last Friday, our eldest son took ill (he is better now) but it was a nerve wracking time for sure...we just got back last night

I am enjoying catching up with you...you've been busy!
