Summer of Color Week 1: Citron Green & Turquoise

For our first week, Kristin at Twinkle Twinkle asked us to made something using the colors citron green and turquoise.  Originally I planned to dye some fabric, but I didn't have the right color dyes to mix to make citron green.  Instead, I went with "Plan B."

I started with some of my handmade shimmery color mists, along with one purchased color mist.  Before I got very far along, I had spilled the Tattered Angels color mist all over my desk.  I ended up mopping it up with lots of card stock.  Such a shame, since this stuff cost about 70 times what my handmade mists cost.  In the end,

I came up with this abstract piece.  I used handmade paper, baby wipes, card stock I colored, as well as lime/citron green and turquoise card stock. Guess what happens when you mix turquoise color mist with lime/citron green card stock!  Yep, you get bright green.

I had this finished Tuesday, but had so many other blogs I needed to visit, I didn't add this till now.  I hope it meets Kristin's expectations.  The colors look a little off in the scan, but I'm sure they are much better than anything my puny camera could produce.

And please don't forget to visit others participating in Kristin's Summer of Color challenge.

Oh my goodness, of course! This is beautiful! I love the bright green that resulted from the mixture and although so sad that you had a spill (why is it always the expensive stuff?) I think you have stunning abstract results perhaps because of it. Thank you for playing along and sharing it with us, xoxo

Lovely piece Elizabeth, shame about the mist. I did the same with a Dylusions spray a while back. BJ SOC#2

Wow, a vibrant and zingy piece of work - I love it! It's always the expensive one that spills isn't it - I did that the other day with dylusions and soaked the edges of all the pages in a new sketch book - so annoying!

Hello! Just visiting via Jez's blog. I love the colours and the shapes on this. Accidents can have brilliant consequences and this was one of those wonderful creative 'accidents' - sorry it meant you wasted valuable stuff. I'm beginning to think more and more that making your own materials where possible is a good idea. Julie Ann xxx
