Postage people in my tea cup

Postage people!  Those of us who love to recycle find ways to incorporate postage stamps in our art.  What better way than in ATCs (Artist Trading Cards).  I first heard about Postage People from my friend Halle, who made a lot of them a few years ago. In fact, she made an entire mini book using them.  Search her blog using the words "Postage People" and you'll find some pretty impressive examples.

Mine don't quite compare to hers, but I've included tea bags with mine.  After all, it IS Tea Tuesday.

No matter how many photos I took of these fun ATCs, the outcome was the same due to my camera's inability to take any decent photos closer than about three feet.

However, here they are up close and personal.  Please click on the scan to see these ATCs in their entirety.  On the left is one of my favorite postal ladies.  She is so stern looking, the tea might actually help her.  I envisioned her wearing a black glove (recycled from Day 8) and grabbing for the tea. The background was one of the coffee stained papers I made on Day 2 to which I added some green spray mist .

On the right is the Queen.  We all know the Queen.  Her gown is tea based (minus the tag) and the stamp is part of one Dawn sent me recently.  Although I'm a horrible stamper, it is supposed to read "Everything stops for tea," and has a postage stamp feel.  The background was made using spray mists I made on Day 1 along with some walnut ink used to tone the bright colors down.

Today is Day 16 and I recycled two postage stamps, and repurposed some of that horrible tea I purchased specifically for art (purchased for $1.00 [USD] for 100 tea bags).

Enjoy your tea (coffee, sports drink, milk, hot chocolate, eggnog, wine, etc) today and join us.  We'll stop by if you do.

The Canon EOS 5D Mark II is $2,499 for body only or $3,299 with a 24'105mm lens. Red lights can be tricky but can be made to look good if you're careful.
The SX40 is the type of camera that can fill any photographer's needs because of the features built into it.
