August and September in my monthly calendar

I'm a bit early visiting Kate at The Kathryn Wheel and suspect she may be a tad late getting her calendar together, since she's been on holiday. See her fabulous blog for pictures. But I finished my August calendar earlier today, so wanted to get it photographed, scanned, and posted on time.

I never decorate my pages until the end of the month, because I am never sure what will inspire me. However, the first part of this month was all about my Lots of Buttons tutorial, which I created after I was given $30.00 (US) worth of buttons. After that, around the middle of the month, I used buttons to decorate one edge along an altered book page when I taught the lesson on decorative edges. With all those buttons in mind, it was only fair that I should try to decorate the pages with a stamp I thought looked like a button! Although I'm not really a stamper, I did manage to get this two page spread stamped with very few mistakes.

For those of you who like to see the details (since my camera isn't all that good) here is the left side

and here is the right side. Unfortunately, my handwriting hasn't improved! You can see I also documented the temperature whenever I thought of it. I show it in Fahrenheit, so those of you across the pond will have to convert to Celsius if you want to know how unbelievably hot it has been.

It's now time to turn the page, though. Even though September is supposed to be cooler in many parts of the country, historically September is still quite warm (OK, HOT) in this part of the US. These pages show all kinds of colors, some hot, some cool. Much like September will surely be.

Only four more months until we celebrate a new year. It's a good thing I have just enough pages left in my book to end the year in a bang.

I really love the way you do these pages. Thank you for the lovely inspiration. I also would welcome you to share this at my Random Journal Day Link up as I really think it is inspiring and lovely. I know that when I see your work, I am inspired to stretch myself creatively. The next one is September 7th- I welcome you to link up this or whatever you feel inspired to share. I love your work!

Love your calender pages and the fact that you document the temps, but I did have a little giggle at "take a blog break"...that was priceless! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)

Love the backgrounds on both pages, great colors and texture. I may not get my calendar posted this month, too much other stuff going on.

I don't think I will complain about our hot, humid weather anymore! No matter how long you have lived there, I doubt you can "get used to" this type of heat. Wishing for some cooler weather for you soon!

The background for Sept. is especially nice. I like the way you add decorations that match what went on during the month!

SO smart that you decorate your month AFTER you've been with it for a while, then your art can really reflect where you've been and what you've been up to! Love the button stamps and those beautiful swirls of color!
Hugs,
Stephanie

Love your painterly pages for both months-the summery flow of August and the revealing fall colors for September! I too have just enough pages left for the last three months this year and have already purchsed a new, larger journal to work in.Now I'm going to check your links to your tutorial and decorative edges lesson. Happy September!

I really really like the way you decorate pages for each month, I have gained considerable inspiration from watching what you do, (loitering silently mostly) and am thinking I may do something like this next year. In my own very amateurish way of course, lol :0) Hope you're having a good weekend. :-D
