Write tea

I could have called this "Doubling Up Tea," or "Cofftea," but I chose this title, because I am actually writing a double post today.

Since it's Tuesday and I have never missed a Tea Tuesday post, I am joining Kimmie and friends for tea. Actually, it is ice coffee,

but the ice isn't going to stay around long, since it's another of those scorcher days we have gotten so used to in Kansas. You can see how the ice has already nearly melted in the glass. BTW, this is freshly ground French Roast and half and half.

And to prove how hot it is, here is what I snagged off my blog when I checked in shortly after noon yesterday!

But back to the coffee and art. It didn't take long to consume most of this wonderful drink I love so much. And it didn't take long to apply the E-6000 to the pen nibs. But I should have been more careful when I started adding the letters, made of vinyl.

You can barely see the "E" on "Write."

However, at the Artist's Play Room, Jenn challenged us to use ink, pen, and paper this week. Jenn, whose blog is called Just Add Water, Silly, knows I'm not the best at following the "exact" rules (remember my apple among the pears last week?).

I don't think I've ever had any ink (unless you are thinking of an ink pen), but I did have magazine images of pens, real pen nibs, and a background I painted using an old gift card. Along with the letters, this is a true mixed media piece. However, you will probably see this same piece soon. I am working on a larger project and created it when I saw Jenn's challenge. And since I have posts scheduled for the remainder of the week, I had to double up on this post, or not be part of Jenn's challenge at all.

So , please join Kimmie and all my Tea Tuesday friends, then visit Jenn for more pen and ink drawings this week.

I would also like to leave a message for TwinkleToes who always leaves a nice comment AND makes fantastic art. However, I'm not on Flickr, so I can't leave a comment. I just want you to know, TwinkleToes, that I appreciate your art and your comments, even though I can't leave one for you.

It is hot hear in NY, too, but not that hot! When I saw the first photo of your piece, I actually thought the pens were 3D! Very creative use of the nibs. You always have just the right image!

I am late for tea today ... very nearly missed it in fact! you are an amazingly faithful tea poster! ... I combined tea with work today too :)

your iced coffee with half and half looks delicious!!! that would be yummy whirred up in the blender like a milk shake :)

Now that is my kind of ice coffee!!! not sweeteners and no fuss. Every time I see the ice coffee blends in the store I laugh out loud (which gets me plenty of looks) but really -- it's ice and coffee not rocket science. And I love your collage as well.
Happy T on T
Peace~

Iced coffee....yummmmmmmm! Love the pen and ink work, you are so creative! I love how you put the "pieces" together to come up with truly original work! Very nice.

The iced coffee looks very yummy! That temp gauge must have been a little whacky. I don't think it even gets quite that hot in the Sahara. ;)

I can definitely see the "E" in the close-up. I had about 4 big cups of coffee this morning while visiting with a friend. No ice for me, though. Have a great rest of the day. Tammy

That is horribly hot and I hope it has cooled down a bit by now so you can get back to tea.... although milky sweet coffee does hit the spot now and again for me... not often, but sometimes it is just what i need... I love your pen and ink entry this week... very cool... xx

I really like everything about this! I love the painted background, the pens from mags(how do you cut them out so perfectly? or do you paint around the edges?)and your wording with the 3-d nibs. What is E6000, and how would this be displayed without the real nibs getting knocked off? Sorry, I am only used to doing 2-D work and have a lot of questions about the 3-D process!

Very cool pen collage! Great composition; I can't believe you have or found all those pen images! And hot! Holy moly! We're finally getting a touch of summer and it might hit 75 or so today...don't you wish we could swap 10-20 degrees or so and even things out? Stay cool :)

OMGosh - you just made me grin like a Cheshire Cat! Hahaha - thank you for your kind words. It is so nice to know that people look at my stuff and even like it, feedback is SO important isn't it, and as a real novice it is great for me, so thank you again :D
Your posting title is very clever I must say! Must I? Yes I must ;)
The pens are beautiful, the nibs used well and the back ground reminds me of an artists palette. Love! The vinyl letters are such a clever idea, I do 'see' what you mean about the E, although it can be seen in close-up, so no worries. I've heard about people using vinyl to make stamps but not seen letters before, hmmm...
Have a great day and rest of your week :0)

I love your piece with the pens and those great nibs. It is very clever. I have iced coffee, but mine was hot a minute ago, it's so cold here that it is now iced coffee. How about you send some of your heat and I'll send some of our cold, between us we should get nice weather. We use a different temp scale here but 148 sounds really hot, it's only 22 deg here today on the 'C' scale.
Hope you have air conditioning or a pool.

I think you've done a great job Elizabeth thinking outside of the box for the APR challenge ;D
That sure is hot weather you're having...phewph...it reminds me of when we lived in the middle east. It could reach 50C!!! I must admit I don't miss that bit. I hope you have a cool breeze come to visit soon.
Have a wonderful weekend ~ enjoy!

So glad you doubled up on your posts! That is a brilliant interpretation for APR. That is a really lovely collage. You create the most amazing pieces of art. :) Hoo boy, I'm not going to complain about our low triple digit (we've gotten up to 103) in NW Ohio any longer. I hope you are getting some rain too. Warmly, Tracy (from APR)
