Inspiration Avenue: The Diva

As Friday rolls around, this week Hettiene set the challenge at Inspiration Avenue. She challenged us with "Diva." What a concept. I don't usually get this wordy with challenge entries, trying to keep them short and sweet, since I realize you have many other blogs to visit. But this week was special, right down to the dictionary definition. I looked up the word online and found several definitions, but the ones I have always associated the word with were "one who behaves as a goddess or queen," and "a usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality, such as a fashion diva." Then I reread how Hettiene defined "Diva:"

"a woman with GREAT TALENT
who is admired and revered!
and who, at times, is known, to act in a BIG WAY!"

She then suggested we be the stars of our own shows, and bring out the Diva within us all. Using those definitions, and that criterion, I knew the exact star for my show, the one and only DIVA I know!

She was born two years ago specifically for this blog and here is her Diva-inspired story.

Her name is What's On Your Workdesk Wendy (WOYWWendy), but I call her Wendy for short. She's a true Art Doll Diva.

In a way, we have much in common, since, like me, Wendy likes to wear her hair short, except for her bangs, which often fall down into her eyes.

She loves to shop, but hides inside "her" purse, shaking in her boots, when she sees water, since her innards are stuffed with paper towels.

She'll ham it up

wherever she is. She's never known a person she didn't like and

she has a tendency to draw attention to herself.

Wendy even hangs out at the mail box waiting for the postal carrier to bring her gifts of diamonds and gold. Sadly, she often sees only bills and junk mail instead.

Wendy loves spring time,

especially when she can play among the flowers.

Unlike some Divas, Wendy is

not just willing, but eager to perform her civic duty (and I admit that this is my very favorite photo of Wendy).

She even listens carefully so she can vote for the first time in her life.

As a result, she gets her very own sticker showing she voted.

Wendy loves to ham it up in true Diva style when it comes to gift giving.

Wendy hangs out a lot at the ATM, before turning into a true "Fashionista."

She loves to check out the latest fabric accessories, because she a true Runway Gal.

Although she's often eager for a bargain,

Wendy still prefers glitz and glimmer.

That's why it was so odd to see her hanging out around anything vintage!

As much as Wendy loves spring, she is also fond of autumn.

But she's really crazy about Christmas. After all, it's the time of the year she gets lots of gifts that sparkle.

Just look at her beautiful face, and you can tell why she's such a popular and well loved Diva.

Of course, even Divas have Diva idolatry. Here Wendy shared the spotlight earlier today with a genuine Opera Diva. I made the Unrequited Love ATC from an image I found in "Opera" magazine of a genuine opera star, a prima donna, if you will. And Wendy is more than willing to take a back seat to her.

Thanks to Hettiene for this challenge. It gave me a chance to peruse my older photos of Wendy, as well as a way to take a few new ones this week. Thanks again. Now YOU TOO can enjoy Wendy's antics and fall in love with this genuine Diva.

How did I miss this! It's a wonderful post...I love the I voted sticker Wendy....not just because it's her civic duty, but her duty as a woman to exercise the rights that other women fought for. Brilliant!
