Chasing light and shadows

Today I'm outside chasing the early morning autumn light now that daylight savings time is no longer in effect. It's not that cold after yesterday's rain, but the fire is perfect for the early morning, since we've already had some frosty mornings.

I've removed the umbrella to get a better view of my tea. I'm keeping my Citrus Mint tea warm in my covered mug. This tea is a combination of oolong, black, and green teas with orange peel, mint, licorice root, safflower, and lemongrass that I got at the Spice Merchant.

As the fire heats, I realize the sun is starting to wash out the lid of the mug.

Angling the camera doesn't seem to help,

nor does a closer view of the mug.

Perhaps placing it in the shadow of the umbrella pole will help.

Since neither light nor shadow seems to help show this washed out mug, it is probably time to stop taking photos and sit and enjoy both my tea and the early morning fire. Soon the fire will be gone, and so will my tea. And this will probably be the last time I'll have a fire in my chiminea this year. It will soon be time to take the chiminea inside for the winter. By the way, the line you see in the glass above is not a broken window, but a reflection of my phone line and the green and brown reflections are the remains of my overgrown bamboo that I failed to get rid of last spring.

Have a great Tea Tuesday, and please visit Kimmie for links to my other tea (or other beverage) drinking friends.

I'm enjoying a most beautiful morning in the sun too--but inside, because we had an inch of snow yesterday. Today there is not a cloud in the sky! So we have beautiful glistening, sparkles everywhere :) Unfortunately, I'm still in pj's....looking out :)
Have a great T day!

I think the teacup with a lid is brilliant...and your little fire looks so inviting. Even though I love fall, I am not particularly happy about approaching winter! enjoy the sunshine while you can...!

Oh a fire in the chimenea!! I already miss ours. It's stored away for the winter. We didn't get much use out of it this summer. Sad really.
Have a wonderful day!

Beautiful blue mug and cool light. Looks actually quite wintery (all you need is snow). I do like this time of year.

Lovely cup. Lovely post. We used to have outdoor fires but now the drought has put a damper on that. :) Happy tea day.

Lovely mug! Thanks for the luck wishes and comment on my tea post. The reason you've not been to an interview that didn't offer tea, is because you're in the UK. In America, coffee is the king and we tea drinkers are most often (not purposelfully... I hope) discrimminated against, in that tea is rarely offered at these kinds of functions. Fortunately this is slowly changing though...

I love working with joint compound. Can't wait to see what you tackle. Also, don't you just love Liquid Nails? I swear you could pick up a car with it! LOL.

Nice cup and chimera in an earlier post. Looks so cozy and inviting.
