What's on your workdesk this 107th Wednesday? Mostly quiltlets!

I know this is a poor shot, but it's late here. On my desk is the "obligatory" rocking horse (one of about 450, so there are a LOT more to see), this one ceramic, along with my staz-on ink covered with a single plastic glove, and two quiltlets. Many of you ask to see what I do with my altered, dyed, or rusted fabric, so here are two quiltlets for you to enjoy. Both use the wipes I dyed last Wednesday.

In case you didn't see it last weekend, the one on the right uses rust dyed fabric and distress re-inkers with dyed wet wipes. Let me assure you, these are NOT baby wipes, which, as I understand it, are much thicker. Every time this Queen of Free visits a supermarket, I pick up two of those wet wipes. I use one for wiping the cart and put the other in a bag in my purse. The two on the right are probably a Clorox Wet Wipes. The texture is smooth and it sews beautifully. The one on the left looks like a bargain brand that I picked up somewhere, but I love the added texture.

And so you can see this one a bit better, here it is after I scanned it. It looks really wrinkled in the scan, so I hope it isn't, because it is going in the mail to a friend tomorrow.

I still can't leave comments on any blog that has embedded (as opposed to pop-up) comments.

Here is what MY screen looks like. As you can see, there is no box and nothing for the curser to click on. If you have this type of blog and an e-mail address listed on your blog or profile, I will try to send you an e-mail message. If you don't list your e-mail on your blog or your profile page, then it would be nice if you would contact me so I have your e-mail address. Mine is on my profile page. Other than that, I am at a loss for how to contact you to let you know I dropped by for a visit.

I can't even leave comments to our noble (or is it Nobel) leader Julia at Stamping Ground. Visit her to see what this bit of fun is all about.

Loved seeing this beautiful stuff and finding out you used wipes! Next time at the market.....swipe!
I was having the same problem leaving comments. I did change my blog to pop up but someone mentioned that if you uncheck the box to stay signed in when you sign in to Google it will help the problem. It did work for me. Hope this might help! :) Nan

I'm having to do the 'un-tick the stay signed in box' thing other wise it trys to put my comments as anonymous but then I have to keep signing into my Igoogle page/google reader too which is annoying... I still don't know wot u mean about the wipes (having a thick day today) thinner than baby wipes but u can still sew them?!

Loving the rusted tones and layering on your quilts. I have been just leaving my url rather than my Google ID. I have no problems with Safari or Firefox but I do with Internet Explorer.
Thanks for sharing today,

I've changed the comment section into pop-out window cause people informed me they can't leave comments. For some strange reason it's not a problem for me.

I have no idea what quiltlets are but they look amazing. :))

Amazing work, thank you for showing the quilts with the dyed wipes from last week, I was intrigued as to what you would make with them. I would love to create something similar but whenever I try to be free and creative with colour I always end up with a mess and not artistic grunge.
My email is on my profile but I'll check out altering my comments. I believe Blogger were making some kind of back up for the blogs and it all went pear shaped and it would appear they've still not got things running as it should be.

It is so lovely to see your quiltlets and to think you what you have done with those wipes amazing. I have no clue about the commenting problems you are having with blogger. But I will add me email as I love to hear what you and bluebeard have been doing. I will be on holidays but will try to visit.

Love the quiltlets! I hadn't thought about using those for projects. I will have to grab a couple to see if I like them. I started having a problem with posting last week and called Google to gripe about it. Ended up I hadn't downloaded the right patch and latest edition of Firefox. Wonder if that could be the issue? Thanks for sharing. Vickie #107

Oh Elizabeth - I miss spending time here - I am off work next week and am coming to catch up properly, yes methinks it is Nobel, your quilts made me GASP they are so beautiful, not sure that I could get pop up comments on my website, but I know you are out there and will shout loud enough if there is something you want me to hear..

We don't get wipes provided in UK supermarkets or there would be a run on them after seeing what you make from them. I have used baby wipes in the past but they are quite small. Thanks for an interesting post..... really got me thinking creatively..
Love JoZarty x

MaggieC (Silvercrafter) said...

Thanks for explaining about the wipes. I shall have to look for something similar as we do not get them over here, so I guess they would not be free. Face wipes might do. but they would be more expensive.

Elizabeth said...

Hi Elizabeth, love your quiltlets but chuckling at the idea of being given 'free' wet wipes to wipe down our trolleys in our local supermarket - it is so never going to happen :) Nice 'obligatory' rocking horse. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #74

Oh - sending you hugs on the comment thing - how frustrating! Have you tried emailing Blogger and logging it as a fault? They might be able to help.

The quiltlets are gorgeous, and I find it fascinating that you can get wet wipes at the supermarket to wipe the trolley with - we get paper towel if we're lucky...

Gorgeous and inspiring project, and i can't believe its wipes, brilliant. I had the same problem with blogger, but fingers crossed I'm managing this week to leave comments on the embedded comments page as well as the pop up ones. I hope yours sorts itself out soon. Kezzy x
