Making stamps

I am not here. I am on the road. This is an automatic post. I wanted to get these images off my camera, so here we go.

About a month ago, I purchased a new, unused kitchen sponge to make stamps with. Materials I used were a black Sharpie, the sponge, and kitchen scissors.

I made four images, a flower, house, cup of tea, and an "E." After cutting them out of the sponge, I was surprised at how porous the sponge was. I'm not sure they work all that well, but I now have a few stamps to add to my arsenal. This may give you some ideas, too, although I wonder if a less porous sponge wouldn't have worked better. I'll see what I can find in California.

I had that same experience with sponges. Too messy. I think my next stamping adventure is going to be building up a stamp with yarn glued to a block. I think using an additive process could be interesting.

I have used things I find in the hardware store, like this kind of rubber mat stuff. Go take a look sometime and see what you can find, especially in the plumbing dept.

I am thinking that these could be pretty messy because they would soak up too much paint or ink... a much denser foam would be better!!
