WOYWW 74: Not much!

For the first time in 12 consecutive weeks, I didn't make it to everyone's blog last week. My back would not allow me to sit that long at a time. Seems I didn't get much art done either, so it was not a productive week. And poor Bleubeard had a birthday and I didn't even feel like giving him a proper birthday party.

What's on YOUR workdesk this Wednesday? Not much is on mine. The sewing machine is dormant, the desk has only one project that I can't show, and there is nothing going on in my basement studio, either. On my desk, mixed and ready to be used is my favorite background at the moment: Staz-on reinker (in this case, midnight blue) and 91% alcohol.

Even Wendy is looking a bit tired. She went with me to vote yesterday and got her very own sticker. People thought we were sisters!! And right now, that cute little brass rocking horse is sitting on HER, rather than the other way around. And yes, I will be by this week, but it will probably be later in the week, since I'm going to try to get six journals made before Saturday. Quite a feat. I have the pages all sewn, but need to put them together and find some fabric. Wish me luck, or wish me sanity, whichever comes first.

So what is this WOYWW blog hop, you ask? Check out Julia's Stamping Ground for the details and to view all the links.

Today's blog is another WOYWWer, Tuire Flemming. Tuire lives in Finland and works in both paper and fabric. She makes the most adorable stuffed animals and gorgeous cards from fabric, then turns around and makes the most amazing ATCs, dark art, and Gothic Arches using paper and stamps. Tuire is very versatile, and I really enjoy reading her blog. I've never featured a blog from Finland before. This is a real treat, so please say hi to Tuire on her blog, Strange Enchantment, today.

you are at no 1 again, order is restored in my universe. I have been very bad/good of late crafting has taken over to the exclusion of most everything (except feeding my family). Timthy is currently playing with my inked up brayer sat on my knee. Never too young to get them involved I say!

Good luck with the journals Elizabeth. Look after that back and allow it to improve at it's own rate cos bad backs wont be hurried. Sending you big healing hugs.

Hope you are soon back to normal (back problem) - how did you manage to get to be no 1? Hope it was not pain that had you up early.
Shame about Bleubeard's birthday coming and going. Still, never mind, Wendy got out and about.

Don't over do it - even standing and sitting around to make up stuff will be a muscle test. And six journals - oh my, I don't doubt that you can and you will..sometimes the time is just right isn't it! Happy belated returns to Bleubeard, am perfectly sure he's not cross about missing a party. We would have trouble buying acohol like that over here in Blighty. Have a fun but careful day dear friend!

I really hope you are getting well by now but take it easy as you are giving yourself a mammoth task making all those journals. Wendy is flat out just thinking of it. Fab choice this week as Tuire's blogs are well worth a look so no probs going again!
Happy Birthday to Bleubeard and hope he managed to celebrate on the quiet without you knowing.

Six journals... I do wish you luck and hope you get them completed on time.
I looked up your technique with ink and alcohol...looks really brilliant. I am sure we cannot buy such a pure alcohol here in the UK, but I shall investigate. Hope you have a good strong coffee before starting those journals.

Six journals in a week……..are you sure Elizabeth?
Don’t think I’ve even made six in my entire crafting career, let alone a week!

Not sure that sitting that long making them is going to be good for your back either, so take it steady.
Hope you’re feeling better soon because there’s nothing worse than back pain.

Elizabeth, I am hoping also that your back will continue to heal, and completing six journals will hopefully help take your mind off the pain but do not work so hard as to aggravate it. Bleubeard seems so sweet that I'll bet he prefers you to be better before he celebrates his birthday. Wishing you well this week!

I hope your back is better very soon! I thank you for visiting my blog last week and leaving such a lovely comment!
You mention that your favourite background at the moment is StazOn re-inker and alcohol. I am curious as to how you are using it. Do you put it on the craft sheet and rub the paper in it? Or brush it on? Or....? I will have to dig around your blog some more to see if I can find this out!
Take it easy on your back and give Bluebeard a Birthday snuggle from me!

Happy Belated Birthday Bluebeard! How nice of Wendy to go out and vote! Very patriotic of her! I heard that only 6% of Americans vote, or some absurd figure like that! Here in the Philippines, it is a holiday, and such a big todo. Looking forward to seeing the journals- you didn't say why you had to finish six!!!!

Hello Missy, how is your back now? Improving I hope. Fraid I had to give up on WOYWW, too busy at work last week and too tired in the evenings! I still left over 60 comments though! I started doing this in January of this year and there were about 15 of us!! Can you believe how it's morphed!

The stamp with the pine tree on it is a Christmas collage type stamp from Hampton Art, I got it about a month ago in Michaels, they still have it in my local store and they have most of their Christmas card making supplies on one large display. I think it was $12.99 but I had a coupon.... I always have a coupon!!

Glad you all voted, I'm still a British citizen so no voting rights for me! Sometimes I think that's a blessing!!

Hugs

Just me again! I meant to say that I totally agree with you on the value of good tools, it's not generally a good idea to buy cheap stuff. And yes, Andrews first love has always been wood, he has a shop full of large wood working and hand tools and a self extracting dust collector too! And in the garage you'll also find a metalwork lathe.

Hugs
Brenda
