Silent Sunday's blog

Today I will be showing pictures from inside the Haberdashery or Clothing Shop at the Old Cowtown Museum. Some of you asked about it last week, and because I had no time to answer you individually, I thought I would answer you today. Old Cowtown is a museum in Wichita, KS. It is located on 25 acres in the heart of the city and depicts life in the 1860s and 1870s in Wichita. It is located less than two miles from my home. It is a representation of what the city looked like at the time. If you want to know more, you can check out the museum link. Of course the photos will be much better than mine, especially when it comes to ones inside with low lighting, blinding natural sunlight, or displays behind glass.

Also, Silent Sunday had nothing to do with Remembrance Day. It is a weekly feature in which I show photos with no commentary. The photos come from my home, my garden, my neighborhood, or my community.

Since I am featuring a clothing store today at Old Cowtown, I thought it would be fun to show how fashion has changed, especially in the eyes of a college age male. Fashion Bits and Bobs, written by Pascal Grob who lives in Zurich, Switzerland is a college student majoring in art and photography. He has a keen sense of fashion and style. Now I'm not sure if he takes all the runway photos he features, but if he does, he gets invited to some pretty impressive fashion events. Whether you're young and hip or middle aged wanting to keep up with the current fashion scene, Pascal's Fashion Bits and Bobs is a blog you might enjoy.

Thanks for the tour, I enjoyed it. Yes the photos may be better but these shots were chosen by you because you wanted to highlight the topic, so in a way they mean more!!!
Have a great Sunday

It looks like a really great place to visit and experience the past.

Love all that cabinet space. Wouldn't it be great in my imagined art studio!

'Old Cowtown' myself looks a fab place.

I found the flower tutorial, thanks, and have been having a play - they'll probably be still on my desk for WOYWW this week if I find time to do it!!

Oh..and thanks for the signature explanation - now I know you siad don't ask why...but well being the curious type I was intrigued to look further (I know, bit obsessive once I get going!) and looked it up (now my degree is finished I'm obviously missing research!), apparently it's from the Latin signum meaning 'sign' and it seems it is a term that has merged with another, according to this site - (http://cool.conservation-us.org/don/don.html)

which says that technically, the sets of 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, or 128 printed pages. when folded, constitute a "section," while a "signature" is only the sequential mark of identification printed on the initial page of the section; today, however, little if any distinction is made between the two expressions.....

so don't you wish I'd never asked !!
