Inspiration Avenue Challenge: Incognito

It's Friday and my day to show my Inspiration Avenue Challenge. This week's challenge is Incognito, issued by Sharon at Plumrose Lane. I almost didn't play this week because I've been so busy, I didn't have time to visit everyone who joined the challenge last week, something I think is important to do if you are going to play. However, when Sharon offered this challenge, I knew exactly what to show, so I made time for this challenge, and decided I would free up some time to visit everyone who came incognito (or not).

When I saw the challenge, I immediately thought of the butterfly I found while picking some of these flowers earlier in the month. I didn't realize I had brought it in with the flowers, and thought it was alive. That's how closely it matched and blended in with the flowers. I was a bit shocked when I tried to shake it off outside so it could go free. It must have been tightly clutching the flower when it died, because that's how I found it. When I spread the wings, I noticed how closely it resembled the flower to which it was attached. And since the lovely butterfly was no longer living, I saw no harm in preserving it for posterity. So here it is incognito, hidden among, and encased with, the flowers.

As previously mentioned, this week's challenge was offered by Sharon, so it was a no-brainer to pick today's blog. I've been a fan of Sharon and her freebies for awhile now. I featured her October Breast Cancer Halloween button on my sidebar, which was the inspiration for my Pink IA entry on October 15. I also have her "Awards Free" blog button on my sidebar. You can have these freebies, too, because she is a generous person who offers buttons, banners, and tutorials to help you bloggers using Blogger.com have a better blogging experience. Sharon lives in Pennsylvania in the US, and is a graphic designer. So please visit Sharon at Plumrose Lane today and let her know how much you appreciate all the freebies, tips, and tutorials she offers on her lovely blog.

I LOVE this- I think it might be my favorite of all your work I've seen and I don't even usually like yellow! I didn't see the butterfly at first (which I'm sure was one of the points of this piece:)) and the way he blends with the petals of the flowers is pure magic. I also really like all the layers of tissue and the color choice you used. Beautiful!

You captured one of Mother Nature's "incognitos" so beautifully. I like the way you gave the piece some texture.

I love this piece Elizabeth. It look like you layed tissue paper over the flowers and butterfly and smooshed a glue mixture over. I use this technique too. Love it. Will you put this piece into one of your journals? It's great.

Took me a while before I even noticed the butterfly, it does match so closely doesn't it?! Before I saw it though I thought this looked like flowers drifting down a little creek or something soothing like that.

This is so touching. To realize something so beautiful is dead is very sad, but to have such beauty in death is such a hopeful statement.

Beautiful flowers and butterfly. I love how the color matches. This reminded me of a painting I made a few years ago of a dead butterfly. It felt weird to me at the time, but I'm glad I did it.

So pretty! I love that the butterfly isn't immediately apparent and you only notice him after a minute. Very clever!

Wow Elizabeth, firstly ~ I'm so sorry I wasn't able to get over here sooner, this week has been crazy but still that's no excuse. Thank you SO much for your generous post, of including me ~ I'm touched beyond words♥

Your submission for this week is exquisite!! To have found that gentle soul clinging to nature's beauty and then create an absolutely gorgeous piece of art with it leaves me speechless.

If nothing else your submission deserves top of the list and I hope at least it brings some light to the treasured soul you are.
