What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday #69

Actually, NOTHING. It's because, as of late yesterday, while my UK, European, and Asian friends were sleeping, I've been doing some rearranging. And yes, before you ask, I visited EVERYONE for the 7th consecutive week on the WOYWW blog hop last week, although it took till Saturday, due to company, a misbehaving computer, and that dratted Error 503. Not sure what I'm talking about? Go to Julia's Stamping Ground and link up to show your desk, or anything in your studio, just like I'm going to today. We're the snoopiest group on the interweb and we're not going away any time soon!

Do you remember these drawers? I linked this photo from my Studio tour back in June. Even before that, I hated the way my photos looked each time these drawers showed in a photo from my desk. I like drawers that close properly, but since this dresser was given to me, and of course I put the drawers in without giving it much thought, I decided I would see what I could do to change the problem while you all slept. Click on any photo below for a better view.

OK, I didn't solve the problem, but I helped, except for the bottom drawer, which simply will NOT close any further, no matter what I do. I suspect, from a bit of investigating, the grooves that fit in the two pieces of wood nailed to the sides are not cut as long as they should be, or the wood guides are too long. Regardless, the other drawers fit a bit better.

As you can see, I didn't bother cleaning the drawers when I changed them around. This top one holds mostly my crepe paper and a bingo game. The envelopes contain items from previous swaps I still must deal with. Sort of a mixed bag of sloppiness, which I will clean out either today or tomorrow. I'm opting for tomorrow, since our HEAT WAVE is back after one day of lovely weather.

The second drawer (which used to be on the bottom, holds foam sheets, a few little quiltlets I decided aren't finished, carpet samples, and cotton balls. Not exactly items that go together, this is another drawer I'll be cleaning out and reorganizing.

The third drawer from the top used to be the top drawer and it's where I keep swap items. You can see it's empty at the moment, except for a doll I threw in, along with ATC holders I use when I send out ATCs.

The final drawer holds all my stickers in sheet protectors. You can see my Martha Stewart rocking horse stickers because they jumped out of the drawer in order to join the party. I couldn't get these little babies to hide or return to the drawer, no matter what I did! For those of you new to WOYWW, I show one or more of my over 450 rocking horses each week. This week just happened to be these stickers that I don't actually count as part of my collection.

This week I'm spotlighting Voodoo Vixen at Scrap Happens Here. A recent move from Saudi Arabia to Calgary, Canada puts her on the same continent as me, albeit not much closer if I want to play in her awesome new scrap room. Be sure you stop by and say hi to Voodoo Vixen today (not sure she's using her given name on her blog) and see where scrap paper, altered art, and grunge board meet, then turn into some pretty spectacular art. Be sure to check out Scrap Happens Here today even if you aren't a WOYWWer.

Hi hunb
greta piccies, give that drawer a size 5 may fit then! lol, lovely & tidy, i made it round but also got 503 error!have great day, happy WOYWW, sue,x

I'm with you on the drawer closing thing. Although I only have 4 drawers in my whole craft room, and they are empty at the moment.

Visiting everyone for 7 weeks in a row is a real feat. I hope your computer is more co-operative this week :D.

Back to say the blue pen is a very old, almost dried out Zig Glue 2-way glue pen. It's pretty cool. Use it right away and it's permanent (the way I mostly use it). Wait a bit and it's repositionaable (but repositionable sometimes loosens itself when you don't want it to do so).

BTW say hello to WOYWWendy for me, I didn't see her today.

I've got a cupboard that would match your bottom drawer! Loving all those stickers and what tidy drawers!!!

It is good for the soul to tidy up. At least you know where things are, or do you? When I tidy up, I can never find anything.

I'd love to see some of your little quiltlets some time.

Have a wonderful day.

Oooooh you got the number one spot :)
Just to check you don't have too much in that drawer do you? or a load of stuff fallen from the other drawers? I know but I had to ask anyway......

Helen said...

I don't know how you manage it but you are always first to comment on my post each Wednesday! Thank you. And I love your drawers! Have a good day.

Chrissie said...

I must admit to liking drawers which close properly even if mine don't always make it shut... as some of my pics this week show. I should have been more careful!
Well done on the sort out!

how amazing that you can visit all the desks and write out such sincere comments! i am going to do a bit of rearranging and cleaning myself and my drawers are giving me problems too because the drawer guides are too flimsy and my papers and stuff are too heavy!

oneoff said...

That's a good sort out. I think I need to do the same with my stickers; they're in a variety of folders and usually end up spread across the sofa so I can find what I'm looking for.

Btw Bleubeard is gorgeous - but then you knew that already!

Annie said...

Thanks for dropping by to say hello. Yes you are right [and very observant] I do have a new set of drawers under my right hand unit. They now hold my stock of zips but as they are much bigger than the drawers these were in before I have an empty drawer at the bottom....and as yet can't think what to put in it....decisions decisions :-)

Firstly, well done on visiting everyone for 7 weeks on the trot. I haven't managed it once yet - but I will at some point. I have some drawers that have a mind of their own too. So annoying.

That's a great way to sum up Annette's blog! Oh my the drawer re-organisation, looks better for sure - if you re-arrange after moving all the drawers will you ever find anything again?! Or are you going to put everything back where it used to be, but the drawers in the new order? I know what I mean! I can't recall seeig you use stickers much - is that why you have a few?!

Sarah said...

I always lose stuff when I tidy up, last time it was a whole set of Stampin' Up! ink pads :( I hope that doesn't happen to you.

Just pull all the drawers out a bit so it looks like a design element :)

well done for doing a bit of "midnight" sorting. I agree that drawers should all shut (when they manage to get shut) and there is nothing better than a good sort in preparation for being messy!
