Getting messy Hands

This two page spread was so much fun. My only problem was, I couldn't scan both sides at the same time.

The left side has a painted paper towel background. I suspect you can tell it was actually a paper towel I'd used to catch errant paint or ink drips. To highlight the magazine image, I used a favorite technique of one of my favorite artists: Christine Clemmensen. My friend Billie eats those Rochette (or however it's spelled) candies like crazy, so she saves the gold foil wrappers for me, along with the little liners they sit in. I simply cut one in fourths to use as "photo corners."

Not long after I issued a challenge on my blog and Yahoo group to make art from scraps, I received this ad, along with a coupon, in my mail. Although it was on heavy postcard weight paper, I backed it with card stock, because it stuck quite far above the book. Fun to see, but deadly if the book was dropped on its top. Of course I had to use a painted paper towel for the background.

Yesterday's new blog belongs to Christine Clemmensen, whose technique I mentioned above. Although Christine's blog is not new to me, it is still worth viewing and could very well be new to you. Christine is the co-author of Scraps, a book I have read from cover to cover and love dearly. There are many great techniques in it, as well as on Christine's blog.
