Failed collage and lessons learned

I was trying to create a collage for a project, but it turned out really bad. No, the right side is not wonky, it was the way I scanned it. The big problem is (as I'm sure most rubber stampers know), there are different surfaces that I tried to stamp over. Had I simply stamped on tissue paper, I think I could have used a white glue or gel medium to adhere the tissue paper and hide the various lines created by the different paper thicknesses. The tissue would also have ensured that the bird (which is mounted) would have been in the correct place on the collage, something I found nearly impossible to accomplish due to the mounting.

I will try this technique again, though, now that I know what to try next time. Size of the collage is 4 X 4, which is really small in my world.

i see where you mean you had a problem
tissue paper would still show the lines
actually i don't think you have a problem with the look at all

I had to take a second look to see what you were referring to...I did not notice it at first glance, but I understand how something can bug you when you are the creator. Actually, I really like the composition of this piece, the division of the space and the subtle colors. don't be so hard on yourself...I like it!

Hi Elizabeth - I have to say I LOVE this collage! I didn't see your "mistake" until you pointed it out. Tissue paper may have wrinkled up and made a mess, so I think this is just fine.

Another idea could be to stamp on clear acetate (transparency), but that has its downside too if you're not looking for shiny.

As far as I'm concerned your collage is just fine. I really like the way he is holding the heart in his beak too!

Cindy :)

If you had not said anything, I would never have known. It may have ended up different then you had planned but I think it is a wonderful collage!

I have to agree with everyone else Elizabeth ... it's easy to want everything to look "perfect" ... but what IS perfection really?
I bet you could still do a tissue add on if you wanted, but it looks neat to me!
