An old project: White Book

Back in 2005, I made this white book in a color swap. Since I don't have a single thing to show today (still working on that same long term project), I drug these photos out. I tried to clean them up a bit, but without Photoshop, I'm at a real loss. The program I'm trying to use just doesn't give that many options and believe me, I've tried them all this morning.

Here is the front cover of the book. It was made from "barf bags" from an airline. There are a total of 14 pages, not including the front and back covers. However, some of the pages appear to be missing, so I will show all I have.

These are one side of the tags I made to place in the book. I can tell how much my style has changed in 4 years.

This is the other side of the tags. The square ones on the left with the tassles were made from perfume samples.

These are pages 5 and 6. The house is made using paint chips and hand made paper. The right side uses magazine images and a rubber stamped image on my handmade paper.

Pages 7 and 8 use anaglyptus wall paper, which is raised and textured. I applied white Lumiere to the raised part.

The left side's background incorporates a crossword puzzle. I don't even remember what the image is. The right side is a clear envelope with something inside (see how it pays to document what you do?) and two small dominoes.

Pages 13 and 14 are nature inspired. I wrapped shells, tumbled glass, and sticks with wire or string on the left side, and used a round shell on the right, which I attached using gold wire.

My style has really changed (or should I say "improved") in the last few years, so sometimes it's good to get photos out and see how much you've grown. At least I feel like I have grown a bit over the years. It would be sad if I thought this was still my best work to date. So why not revisit something you did four or five years ago and see how much you have grown.

Since it's Saturday, I have plans to spend the entire day in the studio. Hopefully I will have a bit of new art to share on Monday.
